I bet the sound of the flowing water is really peaceful. Visiting from MauiShopGirl. Great use of black and white to focus on the mood of the image. The only thing I might change is straighten out the horizon, but otherwise, great use of different shapes/sizes in the image.

Thanks. I agree with you on the crooked horizon. I’m not big on editing my photos too much, so I let it be. The black and white did make a big difference in the feel of the photo.

I remember passing by once as a child, they hadn’t cleaned it out yet .. still a lot of rubble. And yet this quietness came over me. Definitely an interesting place. Thanks for the memories. (:

You’re welcome, Larissa. There’s still a lot to be completed, but it’s getting there. Once you get in the memorial area, it’s amazingly peaceful. Though there were many people walking around, everyone was quiet and respectful.

Gorgeous shot Jenn. Still, peaceful and incredibly powerful. I always enjoy your wordless Wens images. I haven’t seen the memorial yet. The last time I was at the site, there were still the gigantic spaces in the ground fenced in which took your breath away with the magnitude of what had happened.

Thank you so much for participating. If you have a prompt you’d like to see in a future challenge, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Thanks, Tania! I think Ground Zero will always take my breath away. There is still much to be done there, but the memorial is amazing.

As for a prompt, how about the opposite of Peaceful? Chaos! (I say this as my dogs wrestle by my feet.)

Aloha Jennifer! Visiting from Maui Shop Girl. What a beautiful image! I traveled to NYC in April of 2001, didn’t go to the Twin Towers but certainly felt the energy of the city and instantly fell in love. When the attacks happened, it was that much more real to me to know I had been there just months before. It must be so powerful to be there in person.

It is powerful. I was glad we were able to go as a family. I had a discussion with my 7 year old about what happened. It was nice to show him how we will always remember those who lost their lives on that day.

Lovely picture – it’s amazing how a place that was so full of chaos and suffering and violence can become so peaceful and you’ve captured it perfectly!

Thanks, Sarah! It’s quite spectacular. You have to go through various security checkpoints to get there, but once you are there, it’s quiet and peaceful. You almost forget about the city around you.
