I love tax day. Being married to a CPA, it marks the day I get my husband back. The day my boys get their father back. This may sound dramatic to some, but other spouses of accountants know what I’m talking about. January through April can get rough on the family, but we trudge through knowing that “busy season” will end on tax day, and we will reap the benefits of all that hard work the rest of the year.
The worst part about this year’s tax day is that it’s not on April 15th. This year, due to Emancipation Day, the federal government extended the deadline to April 18th. And, due to Patriot’s Day, taxpayers in Maine have until April 19th. Seriously. How many of you celebrated?
In honor of tax day, I thought I’d share an infographic I found via Mashable that illustrates the results of a survey on taxes done by Lab42. Interestingly enough, 52% of those surveyed think they pay the right amount of taxes and 35% actually get their taxes done before March 1st.
Me? I’m just hoping my husband gets around to our extension sometime tomorrow.
