[Warning: If you don’t like closeup pictures of people’s teeth, don’t scroll down!]
I went to the dentist for a cleaning today, and my hygienist told me I was weird because I still have mammelons on my front teeth.
Mammelons? I asked. I like this word. Tell me more.
Apparently, mammelons are the three little bumps that appear on your front teeth when they first come out. You know, when you’re about 6 years old. They are supposed to disappear soon after the teeth are cut and you use them regularly.
I still have my mammelons. And that, according to my hygienist, is weird. She did note that Madonna also has her mammelons. (I guess that’s supposed to make me feel better?)
I love my hygenist because she’s one of those people that really enjoys her job. I actually learn things when I get my teeth cleaned. When I asked her about the spelling of mammelons (for Google purposes, of course), she advised me of another “fun” dental search involving Tom Cruise.
Tom Cruise does not appear to have his mammelons. (He also doesn’t seem to have the same teeth.)
These are the things that dental hygienists Google. Who knew!
So how weird am I? Do you still have your mammelons?
