I have a couple of Philanthropy Friday posts in the wings, but they are not quite ready for publishing yet. Instead, I will share with you a photo that was posted to my Facebook wall by a friend who also happens to be featured in one of the stories in my book, Simple Giving.
Ben Grant, owner of Bad Dog Deli and Dirigo Public House in Scarborough and Yarmouth, ME respectively, is in the chapter on Everyday Acts of Kindness. The photo he shared with me might clue you in on why you’ll find him there.
“Coffee on the wall” is a similar concept to pending coffee that I also mention in the book. You pay for an extra coffee or sandwich and leave that credit for someone else to use in the future. Someone who might not be able to afford the items otherwise.
It’s simple, easy and doesn’t require a lot of time or money. That’s the whole concept of simple giving.
Will you purchase a pending coffee or put a coffee on the wall in your local coffee shop?
Each Friday, the another jennifer blog shares stories of those who incorporate philanthropy into their everyday lives – personally and professionally – in a creative and unique way. If you have a story you’d like to share, please contact Jennifer.
This is such a fantastic idea! I’m not a fan of giving people money on the street for various reasons, although I have purchased food for people who have specifically asked for it. I’d be more than happy to pay for someone’s food or coffee, though, with this model. I should see if any of my coffee shops would do this.
Oh I love this idea!
Oh what a beautiful idea! I’m so glad I came by to read this… It has inspired me to do such a thing the next time I am out for coffee. LOVE it.
OMG! This is truly and deeply amazing. I totally believe in paying it forward. Thanks for sharing this post. You have inspired me on this post!
