Philanthropy Friday: Gifts That Give Back

jennifer · November 16, 2012 · 10 Comments

gifts that give backEach Friday, the another jennifer blog shares stories of those who incorporate philanthropy into their everyday lives – personally and professionally – in a creative and unique way. If you have a story you’d like to share, please contact Jennifer.
Since we are one week away from Black Friday, and I’m already getting overwhelmed with all the ads for holiday shopping, I wanted to offer up a gift guide that you can feel good about utilizing.
I’ve decided not to participate in Black Friday at all. I’ve only really participated once, and I totally regretted it. Cynthia over at Withywindle Nature blog recently wrote about Buy Nothing Day, and I’m all for it.
I’ve blogged about #GivingTuesday, and I hope you participate and help spread the word about it.
But, let’s face it, even if we volunteer and donate this season, we’re still going to purchase a few presents. This gift guide offers a few good options as you shop during the holidays because all of the purchases you make from this guide will somehow give back. Many of the companies in this list have been featured in a past Philanthropy Friday post.
Also included in this list are a few other gifts that give back guides from bloggers, which I hope you will visit.
If you have a guide or a suggestion to add to the list, please do so. The more the merrier!
(You can also view the list on SkinnyScoop if you don’t feel like scrolling.)

I love your Philanthropy mission. You have such a gift of sharing such amazing causes and valued programs… I wanted to share that I ordered 25 boxes from Unicef for my daughter’s class at school during Halloween, because of your blog post about Unicef! Her class raised $57.60!! Again, LOVE your work!!! 🙂

I love this list! You’re right of course, even if we do participate in Buy Nothing Day and Giving Tuesday, we ARE going to eventually be buying at least a few gifts (we try to make as many of them as we can) – this is a great resource!

Thanks, Cynthia. I figured it would be helpful to make a list of some good places to buy from. It’s nice when your purchases can actually make a difference.
