You may have noticed some “old school blogging” happening around the blogosphere lately. It’s where bloggers are “tagged” and then answer questions about themselves. The questions are in an A – Z theme (see below).
Well, I was tagged by Chris over at TheMomCafe. It’s been fun to read everyone’s answers, so I jumped on in. Maybe you’ll learn a bit more about me.
Oh, and there’s a bit of a challenge when you hit U. I’m interested in seeing if anyone else can do what I can do.
A. Attached or Single? Married to my best friend
B. Best Friend? See above
C. Cake or Pie? Bacon
D. Day of Choice? Friday. There always seems to be so much promise on a Friday. April 16th is a pretty awesome day in our house as well.
E. Essential item? My iPhone. I wouldn’t know what to do without it. Unless I have G with me. He can usually tell me what I need to be doing.
F. Favorite Color? Purple
G. Gummy Bears or Worms? No thanks. Though I may have fun freaking my kids out with the worms.
H. Hometown? Hopedale, Massachusetts
I. Favorite Indulgence? Bacon-dusted French fries from Nosh Kitchen Bar
J. January or July? My birthday is in January, but I live in Maine. I’ll take July over January any day of the week.
K. Kids: G (almost 8) and Biz (4 1/2)
L. Life isn’t complete without: My parents meeting in a Cape Cod bar
M. Marriage Date: 8.12.00 in Syracuse, NY (Getting married in 2000 makes it really easy to remember how many years you’ve been married!)
N. Number of brothers or sisters: 1 younger sister
O. Oranges or Apples? I’m a proud Syracuse alum. Oranges.
P. Phobias: Heights. I have some serious depth issues.
Q. Quotes: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” ~Mahatma Gandhi or “Don’t worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you’ll have to ram them down people’s throats.” ~ Howard Aiken
R. Reasons to smile? There’s always a reason to smile.
S. Season of choice? All of them. That’s why I live in Maine.
T. Tag! No way! I was totally on base.
U. Unknown fact about me? My go-to answer for this is usually the fact that I drove the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, but since I’ve recently blogged about that, I’ll go with the fact that I can make this face:
Can you do it? I think I’ve only met one other person that can make this face, and I’m related to her. Maybe it’s genetic.
V. Vegetable? Fresh, raw spinach. We add it to everything here.
W. Worst Habit? Swearing and drinking too much coffee.
X. X-ray or Ultra Sound? No thanks.
Y. Your favorite foods? Steak, bacon, bacon-wrapped steak, French fries, bacon-dusted French fries, any form of pasta
Z. Zodiac Sign? Capricorn through and through
Have you written an Old School Blogging post? Leave a link in the comments so I can read it!
How fun! You really like bacon, eh? 🙂 I definitely can’t make that face. Can your kids do it? Or does it freak them out?
My kids try to make the face, but they can’t. They think it’s hilarious.
Hah, that face! Isn’t it one of the New Kids on the Block who could make that face too? Or did I totally make that up?
That’s a good question, Alison. I was never a NKOTB fan, so I’m not sure. That’s another unknown fact. I was a big metalhead (and still kind of am) growing up!
I love that you drove the weinermobile and that you can make that face. You are so cool.
Thanks, Ilene. The kids find me mildly impressive.
I will be checking out Nosh this summer. And I will be taking your Maine advice about where to go/what to skip. I’m so excited!
Nosh is sooooooo good! Not a place if you are a vegetarian though. 🙂 You can eat lunch and do a little island hopping on the Casco Bay Lines ferry.
When are you coming up? There’s lots of festivals going on all summer.
Mid-July. I believe the 19th – 23rd..ish.
Yarmouth Clam Festival is the 19th – 21st! Yarmouth is about 20 minutes north of Portland.

Okay- I JUST LOVE THIS!!! SO much fun to read more about you Jen!! And that face???? HOLY MOTHER OF LOVE…. that THAT is AWESOME!!!! Still laughing!!! So in addition to our hotel slumber party treats, we will talk like sailors too!!! HAHAHA!!! My favorites were L and T. Classic brilliant wit my friend!!! Just LOVE it!! 😉 xoxoxoxoxo….
Thanks for tagging me, Chris. Our hotel slumber party is going to be epic!
Haha to that face!!! I love a good steak, maybe too much! You/He will aways remember your anniversary 🙂 I have thoroughly enjoyed OSB!
My husband made me a killer grilled filet mignon wrapped in bacon the other day. Good thing a good steak is expensive, otherwise I’d eat it way too much!
Bacon makes everything taste better! I love bacon too. We eat a lot of it, so I buy the nitrate free. I don’t know if that helps matters, but at least I feel better about it! 🙂 Definitely a staple here!
You’re speaking my language, Michelle! We actually bought an entire pig with another family a few months back. We got a ton of bacon from that. 🙂
I do something like this every Friday, I think I’m going to steal this one for next week it looks fun!
That would be awesome, Julie. Consider yourself tagged!
After reading this I totally went to the bathroom mirror and tried to do the face for at least 5 minutes. Nope. I can’t do it at all!!!! hahahaha.
You’re answer to “L” caught me by surprise and made me laugh! Good one!! Hahahahahaha. It really seems like bacon is the way to your heart. You are my people! –Lisa
I love watching people attempt to do the face. One person did send me a pic of him doing the face. He’s the only non-relative so far.
I could have come up with lots of things for L, but I went with the most scientific. By the way, I was not the product of a one night stand. I realize people might interpret it that way. My parents just happened to meet in a bar. They are still happily married today after several decades!
That face is AWESOME!! As is your answer to C 🙂
Thanks, Christine. It’s always an entertaining face. 🙂
As for C, I hate sweets!
Yeeeees to swearing! Definitely one of my bad habits as well! Stopping in from SITS Sharefest!
I try not to swear in front of too many people, but I do enjoy a good f-bomb every now and then. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I totally cannot do that! My son and I stood here looking at the picture, looking at each other, and trying to do it, but we cannot! Purple is my fave color too! I like the way you did this one. I can’t wait to meet you in person. We are going to have so much fun with lots of bacon, coffee, and swearing!
Yes! So when are you coming up to Maine?! 🙂
Oh and I did NOT know that that quote (Be the change) was from Gandhi! That’s how Pete Dominick ends his shows, and naively I assumed he was that deep! I’m glad to know where it originates!
I’ve done some research on the quote. I’ve seen a couple variations of it. Gandhi is almost always credited for it, though I did see one person question it. Consensus seems to be that it was from Gandhi though.
Wow.
that weinermobile thing is PRETTY. cool.
🙂
It was so fun to drive. A summer to remember for sure!
I laughed out loud when I saw the picture of you making that special face. A dear friend of mine makes that same face and your picture made me think of her. I also love your answer to the question “Cake or pie?”. Bacon is always the right answer!
Well, your friend is only the 2nd person I’ve heard of that can make it that’s not related to me. I’m not even sure how I realized I could make it. I think my cousin did it first.
And, yes, you can never go wrong with bacon!
