While on Twitter the other day, I came across the following infographic from Marketo illustrating the differences between left-brain and right-brain marketers. As a lefty, a pretty right-brained thinker and a marketer, I find these analyses interesting. (Actually, anything to do with human behavior is pretty fascinating to me.)
The infographic makes it seem like us marketers are on one side or the other. While I certainly think there’s an art to marketing, there is also a bit of science to it (and why I call my business a writing lab). To produce beautiful visuals and compelling content, you also have to do your research, understand your audience and target your message.
I think it takes a bit of both sides of the brain to be most effective as a marketer. What are your thoughts? Is it really this cut and dry (left brainers) or there no true way to measure this sort of thing (right brainers)?
Thank you for this post.. I enjoyed the comparison as well as the graphics. Now I am aware of what I am as a blogger…
So, what’s the verdict? Are you left, right or a little bit of both?
Wow – so interesting! I’m definitely right-brained; in both my marketing approaches (I love the art aspect of designing brochures – I’d rather let someone else come up with the text!- and websites), and my personality. Never thought about how my left-handed/right brained-ness affected the way I see marketing (but it makes sense, now that I think about it!).
I find this stuff fascinating. I’m definitely more right-brained with just about everything, but I often use my left-brain to analyze the reasoning behind the creative marketing.
