As I sit in the Philadelphia airport waiting for my plane to Las Vegas, I wonder what the heck we did without technology.
I guess I can answer that. We waited.
We waited when we realized at 3:30 am that there was no hot water for a complete shower because the oil company neglected to autofill the propane tank. Again.
We waited when we got to the airport and realized our 6:00 am flight to Newark was cancelled.
We waited the 5 1/2 hours in the airport for the next flight that would get us closer to our destination. And waited 3 more hours for the 5 hour flight that would get us to the final destination.
And, of course, once at that destination, (Vegas!) we waited for the airport shuttle to go to all the other hotels on the strip before getting to ours. (Or so it seemed.)
This has been my last 36 hours or so. Now, I’m happily in my hotel room in Las Vegas finishing up the blog post that I started on my smart phone in the Philadelphia airport, while my husband handled the no hot water issue at home.
This morning, I ordered the postcards I designed on my laptop while I was waiting for that first flight out of Maine. Before leaving Maine, I also managed to confirm two meetings, write and receive a recommendation for a client and get some real time tech help from a man in Ireland via LinkedIn. (He solved my RSS email issue!)
You can also be sure that my social media profiles are updated.
I guess my point with this post is that a few years back, I would just be sitting and waiting to get on with my vacation and annoyed that I couldn’t get any work done.
With my laptop, smart phone and a wireless connection, I can run my business from anywhere. Even airports and Las Vegas.
And now on to my vacation….
