Favorite Line from a Love Song

jennifer · February 14, 2013 · 22 Comments

A friend on Facebook recently asked her friends to share their favorite line (or lyrics) from a love song. It was a fun question, which I also shared on my Facebook page. I didn’t get a ton of responses, but I thought I’d share a few, today being Valentine’s Day and all.

kid valentine
One of my many Valentine’s Day cards from Biz.

From Sandy:

Home is whenever I’m with you
[from “Home” by Edward Sharpe]

From Karla:

Together again
It would feel so good to be
In your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise
If it’s one that you can keep
I vow to come for you
If you wait for me
[from “The Promise” by Tracy Chapman]

From John:

Troubles they may come and go,
But good times they are the gold.
And if this road gets rocky girl,
Just steady as we go.
[from “Steady As We Go” by Dave Matthews Band]

And here’s mine:

And every time she sneezes I believe it’s love
[from “Anna Begins” by Counting Crows]

I’m not sure if “Anna Begins” is a true love song, but the lyrics are amazing. I could listen to this song all day long.
What is your favorite line from a love song?
Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day! Have any big plans? I’m not big on Valentine’s Day.

It will always and forever be this:
“And in the end, the love we take, is equal to the love we make…”

I am probably the least romantic person on the face of the planet lol, but I think I’ll go with:
“But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new”
It’s from “In My Life” from the Beatles.

I’m not real big on valentine’s day either (or love songs, for that matter). I don’t have favorite song lyrics, but the song I associate with my husband and our relationship is Dave Matthew’s ‘Crush’. … there’s a story behind that. I had to actually look up the lyrics (clearly not sentimental….):
    It’s crazy I’m thinking
Just as long as you’re around
I’m here, I’ll be dancing on the ground
Never right side up or upside down
To each other we’ll be facing my love, by love
We’ll beat back the pain we’ve found
    You know I
I mean to tell you all the things I’ve been thinking
    Deep inside, my friend
Each moment the more I love you
    Crush me, come on, baby
So much you have given love
That I would give you back again and again

Love the lyrics. Can’t really go wrong with DMB. It’s funny because my husband and I don’t really have a song. We love music and all, but there’s not really one song we’ve chosen as ours.

I am so not a song person. The only song I have in my head right now is “Stand Back” by Stevie Nicks and couldn’t tell you the lyrics if I tried:).
    Happy V-Day!

My husband’s and mine “song” is – You are So Beautiful. So I always think of that as a love song.

Nice. I’d say that’s a good love song.

“I believe that children are our future,
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be”
(The greatest love of all- George Benson. Whitney Houston)
I think this is definitely one of my favorite songs since I was a teenager.
Love this post, very timely for Valentine’s day.

Hmmm, that is a hard one for me, because at this exact moment it is like I have never heard a single song before in my life. I am rendered totally dumb. Maybe something from an 80’s U2 song.

Put you on the spot, didn’t I? How about “With or Without You?” That’s a great U2 song.

I don’t know if I’d call this my favorite, and I’m a little sick of the song, but it always reminds me of boyfriend, since it was a favorite song when we first started dating last year –
We’re having such a good time together, it’s only just begun
My heart’s never smiled so hard, baby, loving you is fun
(Lovin You is Fun – Easton Corbin)

A song can still be good, even if it’s just because it brings back memories. Thanks for sharing!
