I finally created a header image for this blog, which means “another jennifer” is no longer in plain text at the top of each page. In the process of creating the header, I researched fonts and the meaning of colors for inspiration. Why? Because color and font choice communicate quite a bit about a person and/or business.
And, I’m a bit of a font dork.
In the end, I kept things pretty simple and clean.
Here’s my font inspiration from Julian Hansen on the Behance Network (keep clicking on the image to enlarge):
According to the post, the list is (very loosely) based on the top 50 of the Top100 Best Schrieften by Font Shop.
As for the colors, I am always drawn to purple and red.
Sensational Color tells me that purple uplifts, calms the mind and nerves, offers a sense of spirituality and encourages creativity. It is also a color that is apparently well-liked by very creative people and adolescent girls. (The first one is good at least.)
Red, on the other hand, increases enthusiasm, stimulates energy and can increase the blood pressure, respiration, heartbeat, and pulse rate, encourages action and confidence and provides a sense of protection from fears and anxiety. Red is also inherently exciting.
So are you feeling excitedly calm and creative yet? Time will tell.
