She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and took a second look.
She stopped and stared.
She liked what she saw.
She stood tall, though she was small.
Her chiseled body was as strong on the outside as it was on the inside. Armor that suited her well. Protected her.
Maybe a little too much.
Built from anger, betrayal, frustration, sadness, confusion, determination, ambition, happiness, gratitude and a whole lot of love. An emotional roller coaster that rarely slowed down.
She felt life so fully, it would bring her to tears.
She was loyal and proud with an unlimited amount of energy. Honest to a fault.
Her life was full.
Maybe a little too full.
When opportunity knocked, she answered. She traveled into the darkness and found light. And though she still traveled into that darkness, she was equipped to do so.
To be content was no longer enough.
She wanted more. She needed more. She was worthy of more.
And so she opened herself up. Little by little.
She had a long way to go.
But for the first time in her life, she was comfortable in her skin.
And that’s all she ever really needed.
She was whole.
