Blizzard [Dec] 2010 Photos from Brunswick, Maine

jennifer · December 28, 2010 ·

My husband sent me a text this morning that suggested I take my 5 year old, G, outside to check out Maine Street. After the blizzard yesterday (or “lizzard,” as my 2 year old has been calling it), the Brunswick Rec department had a good amount of clean up to accomplish downtown. Luckily, we didn’t get as much snow as expected.
Living in downtown Brunswick, Maine is extremely convenient, since we can walk everywhere. The problem is that there’s not a whole lot of space to put snow. I cringe every time I see our plow guy (because people in Maine have plow guys) maneuver his truck between our garage and house, heading straight for our back deck, narrowly hitting our sandbox. In town, that’s when the big equipment trucks come out. And, when my two boys get giddy with excitement to see said vehicles.
What my husband failed to warn me about was the bone chilling wind and 19 degree temperature we would be facing this morning. G and I managed to brave the cold, though we only made it the block to Maine Street and then back to the house. (It’s only December. I don’t have my thicker skin yet.) Here are some pictures post-blizzard.

Snow banks by Abbey Rd.

Clearing out Maine Street with front end loaders and dump trucks.

Huge piles of snow in the middle of Maine Street, Brunswick.

Snowy trees and icy windows at Lilee's Public House.

G found a huge snowball. (He was a little cold at this point.)

Kailua, my Siberian Husky, keeps watch back at the house. Note the buoy that shows the plow guy the location of the sandbox.
